Hello, and welcome! We LOVE being wedding photographers and have been chosen to document weddings and engagements from coast to coast! Although we are based out of Wilmington NC, we’ll travel the world to capture the uniqueness of our clients. We describe ourselves as Lifestyle Photographers, because although we enjoy styling that perfect shot, we also absolutely believe that for an image to resonate with you, you have to be comfortable in it, you have to be you in it. It’s why our images feel real and unrehearsed. Moving and fun, not a static group of forced moments. We are happy that you found us, and hope that you enjoy what you see. It is our highest goal to capture not only the special moments of your wedding day, but to tell the story that is so uniquely you!
From underwater engagement sessions, to saying I Do on a moonlit beach… If you can dream it, we are ready to capture it! And if you’d like some creative suggestions, we can sit down and brainstorm together. This is the biggest moment of your life, so lets go for it! About me:
Before moving to Wilmington NC six years ago, my wife and I lived in the Northern California ski town of South Lake Tahoe. It’s a beautiful mix of Sierra Nevada mountains, snow and the clearest fresh water you’ll ever find. It was in Tahoe that I began to shoot my first weddings. Since digital was still in it’s infancy, we shot all film. I had a blast working with a great wedding coordinator and would shoot as often as I could. Now, we shoot all year long, and have the pleasure of working with many great wedding vendors in our community.
Before getting married and moving out to California, I attended Gordon College on the north shore of Boston MA. While there I studied Art, Psychology and Outdoor Education (ropes courses and rock climbing!). It was here that my interest in photography really started to take off. We were shooting all film, and developing that film by hand, in the darkroom. Our classes consisted of chemicals and drying racks instead of software and hard drives. I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to work directly with the elements that paved the way for their digital counterparts. I admit, I love the freedom and control that shooting digital has provided, but I still have a passion for shooting film and working in the darkroom. To think of never having that experience is hard to imagine.
I often can’t believe I get to do this as my job. It’s seriously too much fun. From surf sessions, to shooting in gorgeous locations across the country, to meeting some of the kindest and coolest folks around- It’s amazing. If you are looking into photographers for your wedding or family, I would love to get coffee and talk. If you are a photographer with any questions, I’m happy to help. Just shoot me an email, or let’s set up a time to meet. No crazy mentor fees or apprentice charges. If you’d like to come along on a shoot or wedding let’s talk dates!
About our Non Profit: The Wellspring Initiative
The Wellspring Initiative brings clean, filtered water to families desperately in need of water purification and collection in Cameroon, Africa. Whenever you choose to work with any of the companies and wedding vendors that have partnered with our initiative, you are directly impacting families half a world away.
What started out as my goal to purchase one of these filtration systems for one single family in Cameroon’s capitol of Yaounde through our 2012 wedding proceeds has developed into something much larger. It has become a whole group of Wilmington wedding professionals who have made it their goal to help as many families as possible. With the help of everyone who has partnered together, Wellspring is able to purchase even more water filtration/storage systems for the myriad of needing families. These filters and storage tanks are the best answer to the water problems facing the people of Yaounde.
(See one of the filters and storage systems we purchased HERE!!)
The reason we need to do this is simple. In Yaounde, the water quality and availability is extremely poor. The government often can only turn on the water to the people’s homes once or twice a week, and even then, there is no schedule to when this happens. Day or night, everyone must rush to gather containers to collect as much water as possible before the lines run dry. What they are able to collect is typically not enough to cook, clean, and bathe with until the next time the lines are opened. To make matters worse, there is often the possibility that the water is contaminated, and must be filtered to be considered potable. This is a very serious problem affecting hundreds of thousands of people.
Our one and only objective is to provide filtration and storage systems to as many families as we can. One of my favorite aspects of this
whole project is that there is absolutely no overhead, or administrative costs taking away from any of the support given by each company that has chosen to partner together. That means dollar for dollar, more filters are being delivered, and more families are getting access to clean water.
We all love what we do, and want to be able to give back in a very tangible, and impacting way. That is what the Wellspring Initiative is all about!
Thank you from everyone involved with Wellspring,
Eric Boneske
