Sarah and Eric got married on the beach at the b-e-a-utiful Shell Island Resort on Wrightsville Beach here in Wilmington. These two were the sweetest bride and groom. Located at the north end of the beach, this area affords some of the most gorgeous afternoon and sunset lighting. Any wedding photographer would be crazy to not want to shoot here. Not only do you get the pristine beach on one side, but you also have access to a field of reeds and ocean grass that stretches out as far as you can see on the other side of the resort. This day was perfect with a cool haze that lifted just before the wedding ceremony started. As you can see, the entire day was wonderful and everyone had a great time. The reception was a blast, and the photobooth that we brought along sure didn’t hurt to get the party started right! One word, Hilarious. You’ll see for yourself…

[…] Springtime in Wilmington means gorgeous weather, and that is exactly what Julia and Derrick got for their wedding day. Expecting a beautiful baby boy in just a few months, Julia rocked her dress, looking radiant all day. The ceremony was held under a huge grove of Live Oak trees that is unmistakably Fort Fisher. They are a tangled lot that have seen their fair share of weather coming off the beach over the years. If you were to look straight up, it looks like their trunks all weave into one, creating the canopy of leaves that we used to get soft light in this bright, midday wedding. I LOVED the colors they chose, and thought the orange accents of gold fish was a super cool detail for this un-beach beach wedding. I knew I had to incorporate them into an interesting ring shot somehow. I also loved that even though it was so close we could have thrown a rock into the ocean, Derrick and Julia were cool to go a different direction with their portraits after the wedding ceremony. They were so fun to work with that I could have easily shot another hour’s worth of portraits with them. But alas, the limo and bridal party were waiting. Off to the backyard reception we went to start the party! […]
