This rustic and elegant Vermont wedding was a dream to photograph for Ashley and I. Most of the day’s celebrations happened on the grounds of the incredible Inn at Mountain View Farm just outside of East Burke, VT. The only downside to this destination wedding was that we weren’t able to bring our mountain bikes on the plane. Some of the country’s best riding is found here and we got to look on longly at all the people cruising by, darting in and out of the woods wherever we went. All in all this was an amazing trip my wife and I got to take, and we made some great friends in Caroline and John. Two beautiful souls who were without a doubt made for each other. Our favorite part of the day (aside from the ridiculous sunset light) was John’s surprise trumpet solo, and Caroline’s reaction. Loved it!
From the Bride: We met 5 years ago at the hospital where we both work. Chance encounters led to small talk and lots of smiling and blushing. Finally one night we met up through mutual friends. His dance moves sealed the deal and he asked me out. From then on we were together. We were adventurers, taking every precious free moment to explore. Skiing at Burke Mountain, swimming in the ocean on Cape Cod and hunting for quahogs, sailing and going for runs, playing tennis and making nightly dinner dates.
One day last February we were skiing at Burke. John convinced me to go on one last run. We were zipping through the birch trees when he got ahead of me. As I came around the bend I found him down on one knee with the biggest grin holding the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. He asked me to marry him and I was so surprised that I had to be reminded to answer. Eventually between laughing, crying, and smiling I said “yes, yes, of course yes!”
Our wedding was set in the shadow of the very mountain where we got enganged and where we have made so many wonderful memories. The beautiful farm is set on one of the most picturesque roads in Vermont. We poured our hearts into every detail of the day and in the end it went off without a hitch. Simple, elegant and surround by Vermont wildflowers! We are so grateful to all who helped bring our perfect day together. It is the most wonderful feeling to be surrounded by so much love!
