0 Poplar Grove Plantation weddings always have such a great mix of rustic and historic ambiance, and Allison and Matt’s was exactly that. As a photographer, it’s always so much fun to shoot there. With the help of Social Butterfly Events, High Performance Lighting, Fiore Flowers, Pine Valley Market, Party Suppliers, and 20 Ride, Matt and Allison put together an incredibly fun and beautiful wedding day. If you are looking for a rustic setting for your wedding or engagement session around Wilmington NC, Poplar Grove Plantation is one of the best! Lucy and Rob got engaged here a few months ago so right around Christmas we went back to shoot their engagement session here too. The plantation is about 15 minutes north of Wilmington on on Rt. 17 and is gorgeous all year round! It’s become one of my favorite places to photograph because of the great rustic/historic mix.

We recently shot this bridal session to get some promotional images together for the brand new Wedding Dress Shoppe here in Wilmington, NC. I loved everything about this wedding… from the people, to the countryside, to the homemade pies and deserts made by the mother of the bride, to the dried flowers and cotton, to the many musical happenings from the wedding party and father of the bride, to the (surprise) appearance of Asheville underground greats The Big Nasty Jazz Band, all the way to the squirt gun exit. Get ready for a real show stopper of a coastal-rustic North Carolina wedding! Jamie and Daniel planned the perfect mix of southern class and low country ambiance. The ceremony took place inside of a small chapel in Holden Beach. From there, the bridal party made it’s way down the Intracoastal Waterway in boats to arrive in style at their outdoor reception on Windy Point. As it’s plain to see, everyone had such a great time, and we wish Jamie and Daniel the very, very best. It was an honor to document your day for you!!
