This Airlie Gardens wedding was perfection.  Carly and Dillon were so much fun to work with all the way from their hot air balloon engagement session (here!) to this gorgeous southern garden wedding day.  Airlie Gardens is one of Wilmington’s best wedding venues if you are looking for the quintessential southern wedding, and with the help of Social Butterfly Events for design and coordination, this couple did it right!  Congratulations Carly and Dillon- Your day was a perfect example of why I love photographing weddings in Airlie Gardens!

Peyton and Ryan held their Wilmington wedding at the beautiful Wrightsville Manor.  The soft, neutral colors of the manor make any color scheme look great, and Peyton along with Melissa Burton of Knot Too Shabby Events put together a show-stopper of a gorgeous day. Get ready for a real show stopper of a coastal-rustic North Carolina wedding!  Jamie and Daniel planned the perfect mix of southern class and low country ambiance.  The ceremony took place inside of a small chapel in Holden Beach.  From there, the bridal party made it’s way down the Intracoastal Waterway in boats to arrive in style at their outdoor reception on Windy Point.  As it’s plain to see, everyone had such a great time, and we wish Jamie and Daniel the very, very best.  It was an honor to document your day for you!!

For this rustic themed Wilmington bridal session, I went out on a limb and brought Pearl the chicken along.  We were shooting in an old farm field with weathered buildings and cool, earthy details.  It seemed like the perfect fit to me- luckily Jamie thought so too!  Pearl hung out with us for the most part, but mostly just wandered around.  Oh, and she even laid an egg in the basket while Jamie held her.  I think they felt pretty comfortable with each other 🙂   I also shot B&W film to continue with the rustic theme.  All the B&W’s you see were shot on 400 speed Kodak film- which when shot in bright daylight creates an awesome graininess in the image that is impossible get with digital- And looks completely timeless, in my opinion!  Super big thanks to Social Butterfly Events, Verzaals Florist, and Hot Pink Cake Stand for all the awesome details!  Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Now that many of our clients are out of state, with either them coming to Wilmington NC for their weddings, or us traveling to shoot their wedding- I figured it’s a good time to write a blog post to showcase one of our albums.
